- John M. O’Brien, Managing Director of The BVC Group (www.thebvcgroup.com), a professional services firm providing independent business valuation opinions to clients, has been named to serve on the Business Valuation Committee of the New Hampshire Society of CPAs.
In this role, he will advise the Society on matters relating to business valuation, and assist in the Society’s educational activities and expansion efforts.
O’Brien is a resident of Amherst, NH and a native of Newburyport, MA. An Accredited Valuation Analyst, he holds an MBA from Suffolk University’s Executive MBA Program and is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is the founder of the BVC Group (Business Valuation and Consulting), bringing 25 years’ experience as a business owner, Chief Financial Officer and business advisor to his work. His extensive background in corporate finance enables him to understand the issues from both sides of the desk: as a service provider and consumer of professional services. Before starting the BVC Group, he spent three and a half years as Director of the Valuation Practice for a 100+ person regional CPA firm in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, where he managed and participated in the execution of 100+ plus engagements per year.
“It’s a great opportunity to serve on the Business Valuation Committee,” said O’Brien, who noted that his work has been reviewed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and “Big 4” CPA firms and that he has successfully completed valuation engagements for clients undertaking the IPO process.
