Sanford-Brown College - Dallas Receives ACICS and American Dental Association Approval for its Dental Programs
Dallas - Sanford-Brown College (SBC) – Dallas announced that it has received approval from the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and American Dental Association (ADA) for new Dental Assistant and Dental Hygiene programs. The Dental Assistant program is designed to teach chair-side assisting techniques, as well as dental laboratory and office administration procedures to prepare students to work in a variety of dental care environments. The 65-week dental assistant program is scheduled to begin at SBC - Dallas March 14. Students will receive a certificate upon completion of the program.

The Dental Hygiene program at SBC - Dallas is designed to provide students with a comprehensive plan of studies through classroom and hands-on experience. Students prepare to become entry-level dental hygienists qualified for employment in clinical practice and alternative career settings. The new dental hygiene classes are scheduled to begin at SBC - Dallas March 28. Students will receive their Associate of Applied Science Degree upon completion of the 75-week program.

“This is exciting news for the students at Sanford-Brown in Dallas,” said David Bowman, president of the Dallas campus “It continues to raise the academic standards and increase the opportunities for students to pursue careers in oral health, which also will directly benefit our community.”

"The Dental Hygiene program’s mission is to meet the need for dental hygienists in the state of Texas,” Dr. Hubert Benitez, National Director for Dental Hygiene Programs said. “SBC – Dallas’ program allows our students to be part of ADA and ACICS-approved programs. The program is unique in that it includes community service opportunities to reach underserved and other special populations, and a research component that instills in students critical thinking and problem-solving skills.”
