SHOP ‘N SAVE S.E.E.D. PROGRAM BRINGS CARNEGIE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY TO JANE LEW ELEMENTARY

--School Welcomes “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Bug” and “Bug Mania” Assemblies on March 19--

 

 

Jane Lew, W.Va. - The SHOP ‘n SAVE “Students Extra Educational Development (S.E.E.D.)” program will bring two interactive assemblies hosted by the Carnegie Museum of Natural History to Jane Lew Elementary School in West Virginia on March 19. The touring assemblies are high-energy theatrical productions with hands-on science and educational activities for grades pre-kindergarten through eighth.

 

The “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Bug” program will begin at 1 p.m. for grades pre-kindergarten through second and will feature interesting facts about insects as the most diverse group of animals in the world. Students will join a brave bug character as it embarks upon a journey through the captivating world of insects in search of super power.  “Bug Mania,” the assembly for grades third through eighth at 2 p.m., will showcase the fascinating life cycle of insects as well as demonstrate the importance of bugs in nature.

 

SHOP ‘n SAVE has hosted the S.E.E.D. program for over 20 years, bringing assemblies from The Pittsburgh Zoo, Carnegie Science Center and Carnegie Museum of Natural History to children of all ages. To be eligible to participate in the S.E.E.D. program, students are asked to collect receipts from SHOP ‘n SAVE and submit to local stores.

 

“Thanks to the S.E.E.D. program, SHOP ‘n SAVE has had a hand in educating students for over two decades,” said Bill Lipsky, Director of Merchandising.  “We are extremely proud of the program and hope to reach even more students in the years to come.”

The Carnegie assemblies reach more than 200,000 students annually with programs that are aligned with National and Pennsylvania State Academic Standards. The Jane Lew Elementary assemblies are some of many earned by students through the S.E.E.D. program.
