AKI Kicking Camp Announces Two Summer 2009 Kicking Camp Sessions In Virginia
Richmond -

In response to overwhelming demand, Atlantic Kicking Institute will hold two football kicking camp sessions over the summer of 2009. The Virginia kicking camp offers 7th through 12th grade students the unique opportunity for personalized sports coaching.

AKIVIRGINIA BEACH, VA- The Atlantic Kicking Institute (AKI) has responded to an overwhelming demand for its football kicking camp by giving students more opportunities to improve their football skills with two summer sessions.

The Virginia kicking camp will retain its staff from last year, in addition to adding some well-known star kickers to its instructor lineup. The camp's goal will remain the same: to provide as many athletes as possible with an excellent base to pursue football.

Joining the coaching staff this year is highly skilled, nationally recognized kicker, Jeff Wolfert. As a recent graduate from the University of Missouri, Wolfert was a semifinalist in 2006 and 2008 for the Lou Groza award, was named to the All Big 12 first team in 2007 and 2008, and was named most accurate kicker in NCAA history with a 94.9% accuracy record.

"AKI is thrilled to have landed such a prominent and successful football player to join our group of instructors. Jeff Wolfert is an incredible addition to our coaching staff, and we are confident our athletes will benefit greatly from his instruction," says Tom Edwards, founder and director of the Atlantic Kicking Institute.

Held at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, the Atlantic Kicking Institute promises great gains for 7th through 12th grade students. The camp sessions will be held June 27-28 and July 18-19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All participants must pre-register to reserve a space at the coaching sessions. A registration form is available online at http://www.atlantickicking.com/AKI_Registration_Form.pdf.

The camp is building on an impressive reputation after results from Institute coaching last summer. As part of the coaching process, video analysis is conducted to allow players to see their form from another angle and evaluate themselves in a whole new way. Through the camp's unique coaching and instruction, five of the students who attended last year were named to 2008 all-conference teams as kickers and punters, if not better.

"Teaching athletes how to play a better game of football is a passion for us. It's about loving football, and developing the skills necessary to play football well. That's why I founded the Atlantic Kicking Institute, and that's why we're offering two sessions this summer," says Edwards.

This year, the Institute hopes to have those same results for even more athletes. The two sessions will be small, capped at around 10 students each, providing the individualized attention that is so vital in sports coaching. The Atlantic Kicking Institute is one of the few football kicking camps that maintains such a small size; many have bowed to economic pressure and expanded.

But at the Atlantic Kicking Institute, the only expansion comes in the number of instructors on staff. Tom Edwards himself, the founder and director, was a successful football player for Hampden-Sydney College, a small college in Virginia. He was a kicker there, and went on to play for several semi-pro teams around Virginia until he discovered his gift for teaching. When learning himself, he had often lamented that it was difficult to find good football punting camps. Once he became an experienced player himself, he decided to change that by founding the Atlantic Kicking Institute.

"At The Atlantic Kicking Institute, we are truly here to help the athletes. Unlike other camps, we've priced our sports coaching services affordably so that as many athletes as possible can advance their football skills," says Edwards.
