Fowler Software Design and Metech Recycling Host Electronics Recycling Collection
Denver -

Denver, CO, November 19, 2009 Denver-based custom software development company, Fowler Software Design and Metech Recycling, hosted an electronic recycling collection on Saturday, November 14th.

The event, which was intended to be a test run in preparation for a larger event in April, brought in 1,172 pounds of electronics to be recycled and raised $210 for the Open World Learning program.  Anyone could bring in old electronics to be recycled at Metech Recycling’s new facility located at 500 West 53rd Place in Denver.  Metech offered one-day only special event prices to help promote recycling electronics in the correct way.

“This is a great example of community-business partnership to enhance education,” stated Mike Wright, President of Metech Recycling.  “Fowler Software’s support of this recycling campaign at Open World Learning was increased by community participation.  Metech Recycling provided recycling services in line with the highest environmental standards.  Together business, community, and environment create the triple bottom line.”

U.B. Ciminieri, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Fowler Software Design agreed, “One of our organizational directives is to give back to our community, and because we work in the technology industry, it just makes sense to help spread the word about electronic recycling.”

The two companies will partner again on Saturday, April 17th to host another collection of electronics to help clients, schools and the communities properly recycle their old items.  What can be done now is taking inventory of old electronics and computer equipment, grouping things and stockpiling in one location.

“It’s the right thing to do with your old equipment, to avoid situations that are seen all over the world where these toxic materials are just dumped into rivers and lakes, contaminating the water supplies and eventually causing horrible sickness and death.  Metech Recycling helps to get rid of that problem, and we’re proud to be their partner,” said U.B. Ciminieri

The main goal of these events is to shed light on the importance of properly recycling old electronic equipment.  According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency:

Recycling 1 million desktop computers prevents the release of greenhouse gases equivalent to the annual emissions of over 17,000 passenger cars.

Recycling 1 million cell phones saves enough energy to power more than 19,000 US households with electricity for an entire year.
