- Detroit – The Burn Center at DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital and the Detroit Red Wings will once again join forces for the 17th Annual Motor City Mitten Madness (MCMM) on Monday, November 30 and Thursday, December 3 during the Red Wings games at the Joe Louis Arena.
The event encourages fans to bring new or gently used cold weather wear items such as gloves, mittens, scarves, socks and hats. Collected items will be distributed to Detroit area shelters and warming centers to aid in the prevention of frostbite among the homeless. MCMM is part of the Burn Center’s frostbite prevention program. Frostbite lectures are also given to help reduce the number of frostbite cases among shelter residents.
Collection bins will be located at the upper and lower West entrances as well as the upper East entrance. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
