- Questar becomes the first special interest company to release Blu-ray Plus packs, containing DVD, Blu-ray, and digital copies
Chicago—Questar—the country’s pioneering producer, marketer and distributor of Travel, Inspirational, and Educational programming—is celebrating 25 years in the home entertainment business with the unprecedented release of five titles from Reader’s Digest and NATURE as Blu-ray Plus packs, which include a DVD, Blu-ray, and digital copy of each program. With a pre-book of March 16, 2010, and a street date of April 20, these titles are the first of their kind in the Travel and Nature categories to be released in the Blu-ray Plus format.
The Blu-ray Plus releases include: • NATURE: Amazing Places: Hawaii • NATURE: Amazing Places: Africa • Best of Travel: Australia & New Zealand • Scenic Walks Around the World: Our Dramatic Planet • Scenic Walks Around the World: Historic Pathways
Blu-ray Plus packs present these titles in collectible and infinitely replayable formats that allow the consumer a variety of viewing choices for this timeless programming. In addition to DVD and Blu-ray copies, the presence of a digital copy allows the consumer to view the content on their computer, iPod, or portable mobile device.
“When we discovered that many of our customers still wanted to watch our new HD content on DVD and on mobile devices, it was a natural to do the Combo packs,” said Ken Campo, Senior Vice President and Manager of West Coast Operations for Questar. “Now customers can watch our content when, where, and how they want it. So far it’s been a huge success, increasing sell-thru as much as 25%.” “These Blu-ray Plus packs are an exciting new way to give more control to the consumer,” said Kevin Silverman, Vice President of Programming and Development for Questar. “We strongly believe that Questar is the right company to take Travel and Nature programming into the Blu-ray Plus format and to introduce a new group of consumers to the benefits of having Blu-ray and digital copies, in addition to standard DVDs.”
